Question: Why is a roller spring perch better than a stock perch?
Answer: Stock perches have rubber as the bushing between the perch and the perch-mounting shaft. The rubber does allow the perch to move, but not very well. The pressure required to move a rubber perch is immense which reduces responsiveness in the suspension in addition to creating more stress on the shocks. By replacing the rubber with roller bearings the suspension response is greatly improved and shock life is increased. Another advantage of our roller spring perches is easier shock and coil spring installation. Because our roller perches easily pivot, roller perch users will find it easier to install shocks as well. Shock mounts lineup easier with the shock tower caps and compressed coil springs will sit level on the roller perch greatly reducing installation effort.
Drivers using a high performance shock like Koni adjustable shocks will notice that shock adjustment is easily done without moving the shock from the vechicle because of the reduced side load from the roller perch.
Question: How can it improve my classic Ford's suspension?
Answer: You will notice an immediate and incredible change in the way your classic Ford drives and handles. Roller spring perches smoothen out the ride, improve responsiveness to the road and add improved handling. Regardless if you are a casual street driver or vintage auto racer, roller spring perches will improve how your car drives.
Question: If roller spring perches are so good why didn't Ford build them that way?
Answer: Ford's original spring perch design, in the early 60's, utilized free rotating brass bushings. Ford changed to rubber to cut costs and reduce regular greasing and maintenance. At the time the rubber seemed like a very economic solution. It is also quite common for the best performance parts for both the daily driver and the circle track champion to be designed in the aftermarket sector rather than by the original manufacture.

General Facts about Opentracker Racing Products:
I came up with the design for the roller spring perch in 2003. After driving my car for the first time with roller perches and feeling how much they helped, I shared my findings. Now they are very popular with the street crowd, road racers and drag racers.
We have distributed several sets for track/street testing and all feedback has been positive. A large part of the track testing was done at Laguna Seca Raceway. There are some roller perches on the road with over 50K miles on them and still going strong. Opentracker roller perches have also been featured in FordMuscle magazine. Top drivers in NHRA, NASA, SCCA, HMSA, SAAC and American Iron Racing Series are using ORP products.
Myself and others noticed immediate smoothing of the imperfections in the road surface such as dips, pavement seams, and patches. The open track/race car owners report that the cars will hold a line better at high speed and through the turns. The drag racers report that the cars will "hook-up" much better than before, the 60ft times have improved, also that the cars are more stable at high speeds and under braking.
